I would agree, I simply can't rate them as elite. Axl Rose's voice is just too similar to Dan McCafferty(Nazareth), so similar I knock him down a few pegs for blatantly copying.

I see why so many people hate Morrison but they were great. He took himself very seriously or maybe not at all, who knows?

The older I get, the more I think the Doors are absolutely amazing. Musically, they were doing great stuff. Morrison's lyrics are dopey but who cares? He had a great voice. Almost all rock lyrics are dopey, may as well go for broke. They're fine in context.
