Re: Election 2016
progressives won't be able to implement their agenda after 4 years of Trump
they will have to spend the next 4 years just digging us out of the giant hole Drumpf left us in
just like obama had to
we would have already had unicorns farting rainbows in every american front yard at this point but instead obama was handed a country brutally in debt with two of its biggest industries (cars and banks) on the verge of total collapse; and a war to try and wind down.
he had nothing to work with
did a fantastic job
there wont be another one like him.
there is not a factory where these guys just get churned out
if trump gets elected; after this DNC controversy, ultra-libs might just spend the next 4 years pissing in each other's faces and then field a fractured line up in 2020 that goes nowhere

Re: Election 2016
you can't fund a socialist healthcare system if trump bankrupts the economy first
whoever gets elected will be inheriting an economy that is in great shape
and the means to impact things like healthcare and education costs should they have the desire
if you're fighting two wars and banks are insolvent, there isnt time or money to go around to support kale jerky research and solar energy development

Yeah, and I'm not trying to single you out or anything trag--not trying to be an asshole--but most of the people I've seen this sentiment from are people who wouldn't be directly affected by some of Trump's and the GOP's most controversial positions/policies (if they were implemented, which is still an "if," but if Trump wins the White House then it almost automatically means the GOP controls both houses of congress and the Supreme Court). To put it frankly, most of these people are middle-class, straight, educated, and white. When I listen to my friends, colleagues, students, and teachers who are POC, immigrants, gay, trans, low-income, or otherwise marginalized, they speak with a lot more urgency; for them, we're not talking about political theory or party politics, but really concrete parts of their lives that could be affected. I think it's really important to listen (especially as one of those middle-class, straight, educated white dudes who won't be much affected by whoever wins the presidency).cutuphalfdead wrote:This is so reckless.tragabigzanda wrote:I'm totally willing to endure a Trump presidency if it means the Dems will learn a couple hard lessons.

ST's argument was my argument. That's why it's reckless.tragabigzanda wrote:This argument does nothing for me. Yea, it's reckless. ST's argument resonates with me more, mostly in the case of immigrants. Lemme chew on that a while...

I'm with Hillary on this stuff too, but I know damn well a lot of it is as unfeasible as the wall.

I'm pretty sure 96583UP was using that moniker ironically to mock Trump and his supporters and (hopefully) Scott Brown.cutuphalfdead wrote:Don't be racist.
For all the hay that's been made about the stuff Trump has said about immigrants from Latin America and Muslims, how have people not latched onto the way he talks about Warren and used her familial history as a way to mock her? I mean, I know the answer is that Native Americans are a much less visible and vocal minority, but come on.
