I just think it's a big mistake to nominate Biden. I get that Bernie & Warren are also old, but Trump & Biden are literally the 2 old men who can barely put a sentence together. And like 2016, this will once again be a general perfectly set up for cable news, which younger people don't really watch.

As for all this talk about how unrealistic and ungrateful younger people are, I don't know what to say. The answer to that so far has been pretty dismissive & condescending. It's like they're trying to get the youth upset. We could now enter into a second general election in a row with 2 candidates that represent the ultimate Boomer politics. Good luck with the turnout. Biden can cling to Obama all he wants but won't energize the youth the way Obama could (and needed to). No doubt Bernie has the opposite problem with older folks. I've swung pretty hard the last week or so from "people are overestimating Trump's chances" to "whether it's Bernie or Biden, half of the party isn't going to turn up."

I agree, but I'll take anyone on the blue team over Bernie (well, not Tulsi). If Warren hadn't pivoted to intersectional bullshit, we'd all have bumperstickers on our cars promoting her and Biden/Bloomy/etc. wouldnt even be in the conversation.

If Biden wins, my desperate hope is that he uses his VP pick to invite some degree of progressiveness into his campaign, specifically with someone who is already widely recognized as being a representative of that worldview. In an election that will come down to turnout, shutting out that faction of the party after how far they came in the primary will have devastating effects....which may well resonate in coming years.

I don’t believe he’ll do that, though, because I don’t believe that the democratic powerbase sees that faction as having done anything more than obnoxiously interfere with THEIR party.

Can’t blame them for sticking to a vp that has similar politics to themselves..

Man, I saw something today at the polls that broke my heart.

This high school senior who must have just turned 18 voted in the wrong primary.

The way the polling place was set up, there were two entrances in the front of a high school auditorium. One for Rep and one for Dem. They led to one room with booths seperated by party, but the check-in table itself was kind of nondescript if you didn't enter from either of those front two entrances.

This kid, having come from class, came in through the back of the auditorium and didn't realize there were two seperate lines. He also probably had little idea how Texas primaries worked, having never voted before (though it should be on his mind as a high school senior where government class is core curriculum in Texas, but that's a different conversation...)

Well, he realized after his vote that he voted in the wrong primary and he was pissed, sad, and frustrated. I can just imagine how much he was looking forward to this day and I absolutely hate knowing that he's going to look back at his first vote for the rest of his life and feel like it didn't matter or that he ruined it for his candidate.

I messed up my vote in the Bush/Gore election, and ended up leaving President blank. It's a bitch figuring out how this stuff works when you're young.

There's gotta be a least one MAGA-dummy who voted for a Dem by mistake though, that's what I'd be telling myself if I were him.

I don't really understand how he could've messed it up - how complicated is it?

If he got to the front of the line and found the wrong paper, couldn't he simply leave and go in the other line?
