Its a slippery slope.. he gets charged with murder.. some cops definitely need to show restraint but others who may actually need to use lethal force will hold back n that may lead to people dying because they didnt do enough

First off, I feel you are missing the entire point of what is going on. The issue is that lethal force was both an option in this case and was utilised. I think that needs to be addressed first of all. Like Rob said - he was running away and shot in the fucking back.

Now I get the "spur of the moment" thing and I get the "adrenaline rush" thing and I get the "play stupid games" thing - but do any one of you get the huge problem that this is the situation you find yourselves in? Here you are accepting that it is OK that a drunken dad facing 2 cops is now dead? That you find that as your reality "just the way it is" and "OK".

I appreciate Bi_3's take "lawful but awful", but you guys seem to be saying "lawful, so deserved". These are 2 very different stances and come from 2 very different places.

I'm telling you - this same situation would not have ended up in a death in almost any other country in the world. But for the US it's just the way it is - and you guys are defending that as reasonable? I am astounded at what you guys are willing to settle for in those that are apparently there to "keep the peace".

I accept murder is a silly call here, but surely this is straight up manslaughter and the dude should cop whatever he gets in that case.

To clarify I get it some cops are dicks but this whole war on cops is kinda outta hand and could lead to disaster

Going to the beach this weekend.. last weekend a mix of baltimore ghetto people and senior weekers created havoc.. there was huge 20+ people brawls, 2 stabbings, and 3 stores held at gunpoint.. the first thing you hear is, 'where are all the cops'.. im kinda hoping all the shit is died out by when I get there, but when it comes down to it I'm kinda counting on the police to keep some sense of order, which can't happen if they're in fear of doing their jobs

Well I mean if we're making assumptions the cop shot strictly because he was racist there's no reason we can't make assumptions on how it all played out

But no one has made the assumption that it was "strictly because he was racist." That kind of A-to-B causality only happens in after school specials.
