That poll will be really interesting to watch as more see Rogue One. I voted Rogue One over TFA.

Rogue One is a darker movie with more suspense, scarier villains and more meaningful deaths (yeah, I felt worse when the droid was gunned down slowly vs. the Han death).

Me too. I was immediately sad when K2 goes whereas Han was shock. Later sadness.

I do wonder will this film affect how 8 is put together? It's probably locked already given Williams is scoring already. But still

See, I totally expected Han to die. There wasn't much suspense - even the going back and forth, it was fairly easy to guess. With K2, while we knew he (and the rest) would go down, that droid was providing vital last minute instructions that meant something to the rebellion, whereas Han was an old man who needed to go down at some point.

The way they do it though. They go back to him for two shots and he's in worse shape each time. The final shot is heartbreaking.

Exactly, it reminded me of a real soldier being killed on a real battlefield and that says a lot given that it was all fake. One of the best scenes in the film.

Agreed on the choke your aspirations, although I read somewhere it was consistent with some OT Vader dialog in regards to some cheesy stuff he's said in the past.

Totally disagree with "I am one with the force"....I think it added a desperately needed add'll angle to the force and force sensitive people.

Felt overkill to me. For some reason. Im glad the force was looming over the film because its fucking star wars but I didnt love it.

speaking of shoehorning characters into SW films, that saw guy was in there just for the super nerds, right? he was fairly pointless.

he's kind of the go-between for Jyn and her father, seeing as how her father wouldn't know where she was. Kinda convenient though that the rebels wanted to use Jyn to speak to the same person who received her father's transmission, but she's undeniably linked to him

So in any war movie I've ever liked, I would usually identify with a main character and generally care more about them than everyone else. Yes, it was always a bummer when the other characters die, but always hits harder when the main character dies. This was a war movie through and through, and a good one at that. It starts out with why our main character is going to war, which gives us a reason to root for her. In this case we knew the outcome of the mission but I don't think that detracted too much from it. I still found myself on edge during the battle on Scarif.

I think the story moved along fine. Achieve some intermediate goals to forward the progress of the end goal.

The cinematography aspect was brilliant as I expected from Edwards. Beautiful, really.

I thought all of the SW tie ins were fine. I think the whole "force is with me" thing was a little overkill, especially with no Jedi featured in the movie. (Which it didn't need)

I did really enjoy hearing "General Syndulla" over the intercom.

I can't say this is better or worse than any other Star Wars film because they all are tied together in such a different way. As far as enjoyment, I enjoyed this more than TFA.

That part stuck out to me because it was so obvious they were doing the whole "listen to this announcement! You nerds are going to love hearing this!"

Saw it yesterday and it was great. When it started my son leaned over and said, "where's the words?!" That was kind of funny. Caught a lot of the Easter eggs but missed the ones I'm unfamiliar with (Rebels, for example).

Loved that they used the footage from A New Hope for the pilots, totally out of left field but certainly adds it a bit of authenticity.

My son's favorite part was when the Corvette rammed the Destroyer and crashed it into the other one and then crashed everything into the shield. I felt bad for the Corvette crew as they were stuck to the whole thing. Added a bit more despair to an already desperate film. Talking about it afterwards, my son and I were both surprised that not one of the main cast survived.

I was a little bummed at the scenes that didn't make it into the film from the trailer, I assume those were reshoot casualties though.

They couldnt do that. They don't know her. They belong to captain Antilles at this stage. And As 3PO says to Luke 'a person of some importance I believe'. Plus it would have been corny as hell.

Also, what was she princess of? For real. I guess i dont know that. Bail organa talks about her but mon mothma didnt seem to know her in the film "i would trust her with my life". So, why would she not know who the princess is?
