Recs please. What movie should I try to get my 14 year old nephew to watch with me tonight? He likes the MCU, the Rocky movies, and the classic 70s/80s horror movies. And whatever cartoons kids these days look at. I want to begin the process of ruining his life by hooking him on cinema as a hobby, instead of something productive like karate or woodworking before it is too late.

Right now I'm thinking either 12 Angry Men or Time Bandits

This might be moot, anyway. I tried to get the kid to come see Maverick with me last summer but he told me he only watches movies with his dad. Kind of sweet, but also kind of a fuck you, ya know?

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Green Room too adult
Donnie Darko actually a good rec
The Squid and the Whale far too adult also generally terrible and not good
Edge of Tomorrow not inappropriate but also a little too normal
3 Days of the Condor he won't get it
The Day of the Jackal same thing
Kill Bill too adult
The Thing probably ok
Mad Max Fury Road he'd need to see Beyond the Thunderdome first or he'd be confused
The Wraith I'm not familiar with
Caligula no how dare you

I think the scene where the men are raping Uma Thurman's comatose body is not ideal for a young man his age

He gets his commeuppance right after that. It's fine. I watched Kill Bill around that age and look how well-adjusted and normal I am
