My sister had FIOS for a while but actually switched back to Comcast. She's no fool either, so I'm curious what here issues were.

Either way, what I really want is Google Fiber, which blows FIOS out of the water.

I've had fios for a good 8 years or so now and I've never really had any complaints.

Maybe it was price? Because I love the service, but it is quite pricey.

That could be it.

For me it was cheaper than Comcast was.

The other day I learned that Comcast has a Solutions department that pretty much gives customers a better price when they threaten to leave.

Verizon basically does the same, whenever I call to complain about the bill they give me some deal that lowers it for 6 months or so. Then I just call again 6 months later.

I tried that with Comcast and they wouldn't do it and I'd said I'd shop around. So did and tried to quit comcast. And I got a call similar to the one that went viral a couple of months ago. I was close a couple of times of telling her to fuck off, but she was an old lady. How do you tell grandma, "Fuck off! :finger: "

We tried last week to get comcast to reduce our bill. It had shot up from about 200 to about 300 a month. At first the only way to get the price down was to upgrade to the X1 operating system bullshit, which actually isn't a terrible system once I looked into it. The guy came to set it up and couldn't do it because we had too many splitters in the wiring chain, and we couldn't replace them with straight shots in the finished basement without it turning into a serious project. So we called them back and they just knocked a hundred bucks off the bill and it's good for 48 months.

Yea, mine is about 180 a month, it starts creeping up to 200 a couple times a year and that's when I call and fish for discounts.

I had heard all these stories about calling and asking them to decrease prices and apparently most of the ones around here are happy to do it if you threaten to leave. I hated that idea so I found a provide with a good reputation, signed up, and then called to cancel. They asked me what kind of package I had, so I told them and they offered to match it. I enjoyed being able to say "Nope, it's too late" but I was a bit disappointed that they didn't do much begging me to stay.

It's too late. You didn't appreciate me and treat me the way I deserve to be treated.
