Saw Okja on Netflix. Some great scenes, a couple of my favorite actors. Humor was a bit much at times, but the drama and the story was captivating. Overall I enjoyed it.

It's horrible. Not even just the story, it's even incompetently constructed on a technical level. It violates basic shit about angles and cuts that you'd read about in like 'Directing for Dummies'. And not even in an intentional Godard-ian jump cut kind of way. Just in a 'wait, wtf, where are we, what just happened' kind of way

Transformers: The Last Knight

Not bad the way I feared (yet). Been an enjoyable first 35 minutes.

Both Babylon and Amsterdam look interesting. Think I’ll probably enjoy both. Have got them, but will wait until I get to their year to see them.

Your call. But it's a great movie. And it feels about a week shorter than Oppenheimer. So if you can make it through that Wikipedia entry of a film, Babylon will be a piece of cake for you.

there's a LOT to love about "TMNT: Mutant Mayhem"; there are a few changes to the original lore, which make sense for this generation of kids and kids media, and given what they can (and I hope they will) do to further things in future sequels; they've gone right back to the beginning, much like "The Batman" did recently -- so yes, left wanting more, but they've suggested more could be coming; I love how they gave New York a genuine sense of place that feels "real" even though it's animated, and I particularly liked how they wrote the crime culture: there are big "kingpins", and there are the small-time "crooks", real people who don't super want to be doing what they're doing but are exploited by the bosses and trapped by poverty and discrimination; in this way, the movie paints a world much like a teen-friendly Hell's Kitchen of Marvel's "Daredevil", which is SO appropriate, given that the original comic, its characters and its world-building, was a love letter to, and a parody of, Daredevil itself

also fuck the haters, love what they did with April, taking her back to her roots
