That's fine, but it doesn't mean he has to be ridiculously hyperbolic

Or, maybe he actually feels this way. Lol Doesn't mean any of you have to as well. Pinfield has always been a huge PJ fan. Not to mention if we're just comparing to PJ in the last decade then that's just LB and Gigaton. And if we're talking last decade of music in general, well.... There hasn't really been much in the way of good music that has come out in the last 10 years, let alone GREAT.

I currently have Dark Matter at 5 and Running at 4 and they may well be two of the worst songs on the album. Who knows? Maybe I’m in alignment with Pinfield.

Guys - we’re talking music….art.
What’s great and what’s not is so highly subjective it’s not worth discussing. Consensus is impossible.
So - let Pinfield’s comment be what it is. One guy’s opinion. Nothing more/less.

Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
aside from the production, both songs are just so Binaural / Riot Act to me; the weird amalgamation of parts in Running seems to come from the same band who wrote Evacuation (which I like more, naturally), and Dark Matter seems like You Are's new strapping young lad
over recent years I've done a lot of "this sounds like this" with Pearl Jam, trying to trace some of the old band I loved in the new (sometimes absolutely baffling) musical decisions and directions, but this time I think I believe myself
in time I'm definitely going to feel the sting of some great songs being marred by "pop" production choices (again!) but the songwriting itself is already higher quality than the catalogue's worst offenders, and ultimately that's all I really care about
what we know about the lyrics to "(don't) React, Respond" reminds me of the slightly silly wordplay of "Breakerfall"
I dunno, it's just nice to hear some definite middle-period influences, and I know we've got a few minutes of Yield on the way

Its fine if you truly think there has been no good music in the last ten years but id wager a person maybe isn't trying that hard.
To each their own though!

It was one person's opinion, folks...nothing more, nothing less...put as much or as little stock into it as you'd like.
Speaking about Pinfield, not whoever said there hasn't been any good music...That's just patently ridiculous

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Outside of the rarefied air of RM I suspect Evacuation being a better song than Dark Matter would be declared insane by most. The world is large and contains multitudes.

I have a few favourite rock and metal albums of the last 10 years but I've been told one of them sounds like Imagine Dragons; nothing dark matters and we're all gonna die
