Our job now is to see that platform implemented by a Democratic Senate, a Democratic House and a Hillary Clinton presidency – and I am going to do everything I can to make that happen.

I don't think you are being cynical, I think you are being a realist. Hillary's selection of Tim Kaine as VP indicates that despite whatever the official 'platform' is, she is planning to walk back towards the center in order to win. It's politically smart for her to pay lip service to the progressives at the convention so they can rationalize abandoning Bernie to vote for her and then distance her self from the economic and geopolitical illiteracy of the Sanders campaign over the next few weeks or until she feels she has a critical mass of them on her side.

This is exactly what he should be saying.
With the exception of a brief period when Bernie & Co. thought the nomination was within reach, this was the plan all along. It's already been said, repeatedly. Prime time convention speeches (or any of them, for that matter) are not the place for this stuff. Hillary and the party seem to be doing their part to embrace the Sanders wing. As of now, they deserve the benefit of the doubt. The country is changing, and no matter what you think of Hillary or Dems, they aren't stupid. They know they have to change too. If Hillary and the party begin to go back on this stuff in September, or next year, then we have an argument and should resume fighting. People who agree with Bernie got a lot out of this process. Let's not destroy that progress simply because we didn't get it all.

I think that the Pro-HRC group is playing this entirely wrong. The fact is, the vast majority of Bernie supporters are going to vote for HRC no matter what. But this YOU ARE BEING IRRESPONSIBLE! thing is only going to disenfranchise so many of them. They want to be heard and understood. If you pretend like you're listening, and let them have their anger, by november that anti-HRC resentment will largely disappear.
Instead you're beating them over the head telling them what they need to do and trying to silence them. That's only going to make them fight back louder.

the difference is Trump is completely incompetent and has no clue how to run a country, believes the national enquirer is legit reporting, and a million other reasons. At least the clintons know how the world works and can run a government.
Nobody is saying HRC is clean. Most people are pissed that these are the 2 choices. Alas, its a no brainer here.
