Yeah it's been confirmed. I do like the idea of Luke burning it down himself. It would make his desire to end the Jedi order and take its concepts and beliefs and progress it into something new a very dramatic and decisive act.

Wondering if anyone here actually watched the trailer and saw luke fall to his knees in front of his burning academy.

That's what it points to but everything in TFA was vague as hell. It was as if the writers were too afraid to cover any plot holes.

Next to R2? And obviously from the same shot in TFA trailer where you see burning n the background and a robotic hand in a hood touching R2?
Its luke.

I'm just pointing out how vague the imagery was. Antagonist seems a bit strong.

Well, right. But again... we don't know for sure it's Luke (it's Luke). We don't know how/why the building is burning. We don't know what the building is. There is a lot of room to wonder.
Han saying "destroyed it all" could be metaphorical. Maybe he "destroyed it all" Luke blamed himself and then literally burned the fucking building to the ground and watched it burn with R2.
Is that likely? I don't know. Probably not. But we just don't know. It's fun to think about/wonder about. Like focker said, it's all vague. Which is by design.

I like the idea.
Especially if he does go rogue (eh? Eh?

) and starts learning about balance and the dark side and training Rey in that and Yoda or Anakin has to turn up to talk him back away from it.

I like all of that. Until the end. I don't want anybody talking him back from it. I want him to burn it all down forever.
