I don't think there's any longview scenario where this works out in their favor:

#1. It gets a lousy CBO score and bites the dust in the senate.

#2. It somehow passes the senate, then 24M people lose their health care and take their anger to the 2018 elections.

On #2: they could plan it so that the complete phase-in doesn't happen until after Nov. 2018.

This is a great point. But it would still be a huge gamble, because by that point the details of the bill would have gotten out, and voters would have had enough time to process the impact.

I can't imagine this bill won't get tweaked in the senate after the CBO score comes out, but for most it wouldn't even need to. All they want is the mandate gone and the black guy's name out.

I had a religious but tell me the other day that 400,000 unregistered voters voted for marriage equality in Ireland and its all a sick fraud.

She was the first time I'd ever heard about a mysterious 10% of our population swinging a vote in a globally historic referendum. Yet she believed every word she was saying. Apparently it was a fix.
