At this point in 2020, all drinking gifs should be taken from the bar scene in Near Dark.

To make them accurate to the current era.

NC's Governor just release a phased plan:

https://governor.nc.gov/news/governor-e ... ions-based

On May 8th, I might get to go to some stores, but it's still gonna be a big pain in the ass. Maybe 2 weeks later, I can go to a restaurant and get a haircut.

So is this more of a best case, and May 8 is the earliest possible day, not necessarily THE day?
In order to begin lifting restrictions, North Carolina needs to see progress in these key metrics:

Sustained Leveling or Decreased Trajectory in COVID-Like Illness (CLI) Surveillance Over 14 Days
Currently, North Carolina’s syndromic surveillance trend for COVID-like illness is decreasing over the last 14 days.

Sustained Leveling or Decreased Trajectory of Lab-Confirmed Cases Over 14 Days
Currently, North Carolina’s trajectory of lab-confirmed cases over the last 14 days cases is still increasing, although at a slower rate.

Sustained Leveling or Decreased Trajectory in Percent of Tests Returning Positive Over 14 Days
Currently, North Carolina’s trajectory in percent of tests returning positive over the last 14 days is increasing at a slow rate.

Sustained Leveling or Decreased Trajectory in Hospitalizations Over 14 Days
Currently, North Carolina’s trajectory of hospitalizations over the last 14 days is largely level with a slight trend upward.

I live in NC, and that's my understanding. He extended to May 8, but will reevaluate closer to that time.

Thus my use of the words "might" and "maybe."

What I'm not clear about is the metrics that Rob posted.

Do we have to level off and/or improve on all 4? 3 of the 4? What if we really improve on 1, level off on 2, and get worse on 1?

Some of ours are - they're trying to limit it to kids of essential workers and keep them in a bubble of 10

It's back to business as usual here, though parents are permitted to keep kids home if they feel it's necessary. It'll be interesting to see how full the classes are.

Despite broadening testing to basically anyone who wants it and conducting thousands of tests daily, we've had zero new positive tests in our state for most days during the last week (and those occasional outliers have been related to earlier cases, family members, etc - not unexplained community transmissions.)

You're in Australia, right? Gonna be interesting and informative to see what happens in the southern hemisphere over the next few months.

That's the worry. We've come out of summer with relative good health throughout the community.

NSW schools are essential workers' kids only for next 2 weeks then staggered classes for the remaining of the term. The aim is for each student to attend 1 day a week with classes of no more than 10 each day.

And if police officers don’t want the situation to get unruly, they’ll either act like these officers did, or they won’t make illegal and asinine arrests to begin with. This entire video is very interesting.

It’s awesome that they’re protesting because he did his job?
He arrested a mother who was playing alone with her daughter and not breaking any laws. How’s that doing his job? Did you watch the video?
