Ty Segall announces new covers LP.

Ty Segall is a fan of music. He lives in Los Angeles, but has lived in San Francisco and Laguna Beach. Ty is obsessed with ceviche and loves being outside. He is 31 years old. For fun, he recorded a covers album of songs he loves. This includes songs by Amon Düül II, John Lennon, Sparks, War, Funkadelic, Rudimentary Peni, Grateful Dead, Spencer Davis Group, and more. Ty loves so many songs. This particular covers collection is called Fudge Sandwich, and the album art (see below) has a picture of a fudge sandwich on it. He hopes you like it. If you don’t, it’s ok because he really just made it for fun. Ty is currently taking his dog, Fanny, for a walk.

Fudge Sandwich Tracklist:

01 Lowrider (War)
02 I’m a Man (Spencer Davis Group)
03 Isolation (John Lennon)
04 Hit It and Quit it (Funkadelic)
05 Class War (The Dils)
06 The Loner (Neil Young)
07 Pretty Miss Titty (Gong)
08 Archangel Thunderbird (Amon Düül II)
09 Rotten to the Core (Rudimentary Peni)
10 St. Stephen (Grateful Dead)
11 Slowboat (Sparks)

New release Friday! Out today are the Sandro Perri and Vennart albums, among others, and a companion EP, called Copeland, from the latter:

After a listen through each, I have to say, I might come away disappointed by In Another Life, the Sandro Perri record. The title track is wonderful, even if a little on the long side, but I'm not sure what to think of the other three songs that make up the triptych, "Everybody's Paris." I was dubious about the deployment of other lead vocalists on two of the three tracks, and my opinion didn't improve upon hearing it. Hopefully this one turns into a grower.

There's another upcoming release to announce, once more on Constellation who have fielded more releases than usual this year. The next, and likely final, one for 2018 is Entanglement by Jessica Moss, the follow up to last year's Pools of Light, out October 26. This one, as perhaps evidenced by the title, is conceptually informed by quantum theory and particle physics. Here's an edit of the side A piece, "Particles":

Checked out NY band Bodega's debut on a whim. It's really good stuff. Bit of Parquet Courts in there, but better, much better.

Here's the opener How Did This Happen.

Delgres is a French-Caribbean creole blues trio. OK. Debut album Mo Jodi is a nice listen, funky in parts, smooth in others, but the blues runs through it. Here's them taking it down a notch on album closer Pardone Mwen.

So there's this young Melbourne 3 piece named Cyanide Thornton releasing their debut on Nov 9. This is the lead single Weight and it sounds pretty solid to me.

It's a little dreamy, a little hazy yet with a solid base to it. Nice tune to start off an Aussie spring. Look forward to checking out the album when it lands.

I like it enough...I needed his calm chillness today but im not sure if the album has more appealing than that. Sun was a very new approach to Chan´s music, as different as The Greatest was.

I'm three tracks in and digging it so far, much more than Sun and Jukebox, but not quite as much as The Greatest and not nearly as much as You Are Free.

It's got the stripped-down, straightforward vibe on You Are Free -- simple chords progressions repeat over and over again, simple melodies -- but the overall vibe and instrumentation is more wistful like The Greatest, not quite as dark as You Are Free. Overall a good mix of those two albums so far.
yeah i agree that seems like a return to her first music, maybe You Are Free but with a sound near her latter albums. Sun was really different from anything she did so i was surprised by it.

This one is more Cat Power´s by the numbers.

Exactly. Its good but she did this already with better results.
Thats why i liked Sun so much, because it seemed a different road for her.
