There are levels to this:

1. That he either wasn't present the day of the shooting or not close enough to the shooting to be legitimately traumatized.

2. That he's being used as a political pawn by his parents and is coached on what to say/believe.

3. That he wasn't actually a student at the high school and is an actor being used to drum up sympathy (or part of a plot to make people believe in a false flag operation).
