It's amazing how I can have a stupid reputation for being the poster who loves everything and the poster who panders to women. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.

I'm so sorry you guys are so threatened by women. If it makes you feel better, they're still losing. So... I guess drink to that and relax?

Bernie seems positively organized in comparison. Admittedly, I'm not a Bernie expert. His voice is hard to take.
Wait, you prefer an old white man to a young non-white woman? THE HELL YOU SAY!

I had no idea. Did not see this coming.

I'm assuming it's a lot more than watch senate floor speeches. Wasn't the question why she gets more attention from the public than Bernie?

I'm sorry I thought this was America. Nobody watches CSPAN.

The question was why does she get more attention from the right than Bernie. You brought up her I'm making dinner vlogs in some sort of formal comparison to other politicians, which is absurd since it's a completely different medium. In any case, I don't know that she does get more outright attention than Bernie, but I would write confidently wager that she gets more attention from right-wing media per instance than Bernie does, despite his platform being further to the left of hers.

Well if it's any consolation, I think the Right's attempt to make her famous to discredit the democrats will probably go about as well as the Left's attempt to puff up Trump to discredit the republicans.

I don't think those things are isomorphic in the slightest.

I wasn't meaning to talk about Burt, really (or anyone in particular) in my question about the right's antipathy for her. I wouldn't speak about any individual person, but I would just say that I think it's bonkers to believe that the right's reaction to her on the grand scale is due solely to her policies. As Mickey has said (better than I) there's plenty of people with her policies. Some of them are even running for president. But they don't get the attention she does, particularly from right-wing media. I don't believe those outlets are being stupid in this regard; they frequent her more than others because they seem to think she will inflame their viewers (and keep them watching). Why do they believe that to be the case?

I think FOX highlights her because:

1.) She pushes socialist stuff they hate
2.) She is seemingly inept at pushing it
3.) She provides lots of content
4.) She is a character

What more to it is there? They're not gonna push some white guy that speaks in platitudes.

But I think they are making a mistake. If Trump taught me anything, it's that you don't have to eloquently or thoughtfully push something, you just have to yell really loud and wave your hands around a lot. The cult will come. I don't see why it's any different for one side than the other.

edit: I have no faith in humanity.

At the risk of treating this as some sort of rigorously pursued opinion, what "success" would you ascribe to Trump and his method?

- getting elected president
- forming a personality cult
- (perhaps most impressively) moving the needle towards isolationism in a country where the elite was almost universally against it.
