Something to do after Goose. They are coming to Port Chester, but when I am away so I will miss them this time around.

Listened to their latest the other day and still a solid band but the cohesion with Isbell was pretty stellar. Enjoy Decoration Day.

*edit Assuming that is where you start anyway

DBT stuff is pretty different. I'd start with HERE WE REST and then go sequentially through the rest of his albums then back to DBT.

Listening to the Cooley/Hood/Isbell Live at the Shoals Theatre release from 2014, just a damn fine and fun one.

As far as an Isbell listening experience, I gravitate toward chronology for all artists... even if I find them late in their career I want to immediately start at the beginning. Plus they're great DBT albums.

Drive-By Truckers - Decoration Day
Drive-By Truckers - The Dirty South
Drive-By Truckers - The Fine Print: A Collection of Oddities and Rarities
Drive-By Truckers - A Blessing and a Curse
Isbell - Sirens of the Ditch
Isbell and the 400 Unit - Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit
Isbell and the 400 Unit - Here We Rest
Isbell - Southeastern
Isbell - Something More Than Free
Isbell and the 400 Unit - The Nashville Sound
Isbell and the 400 Unit - Reunions

I’m starting with Southern Rock Opera. It’s one I’ve always meant to listen to. (Skynyrd fan that I am.)

He only sings on a handful of DBT stuff though. It's just not a good representation of who he is as a complete artist. Otherwise, I agree with you.

I've liked all four of the released songs quite a bit. I already think it's a stronger record than Reunions.

Can't wait for the whole thing.
