Did they even watch those shows?

This show isn't for you. If you don't like it don't watch it. You're the reason the show failed.McParadigm wrote:The show has been the subject of a lot of pathetic bigotry, and I’m quite sure it would be getting a better reception without it because people will generally like Star War by default. That’s why the property was worth billions of dollars. But none of the things that those people are complaining about are the problem here.tragabigzanda wrote:Sorry guys but epilogue is right:

Maybe I'm naive but I don't really think these shows have bad audience scores and viewership because they are diverse I think its because they are bad shows. You can win these people over pretty easy. The Game of Thrones brand was in the tank and the diverse House of the Dragon won everyone back almost immediately. Just make a good show and maybe don't blame the audience if they don't like it. The shame strategy isn't working.epilogue wrote:That's your honest, good faith, take away?
I think that is a problem with all TV now. They film the entire season then release it. In the good old days they'd be filming episodes in blocks while releasing shows and could pivot throughout the season as they got audience feedback. This new model they are locked in. They don't react positively to audience feedback now anyways they just tell the audience they are horrible people for not liking it.BurtReynolds wrote:you almost have to respect Disney for taking absolutely zero outside feedback and just plowing ahead with their "vision". Even to the smallest detail.
The reason they have these ready-made criticisms of fans ready to go is because for some bizarre reason they think it still works as marketing (if it ever did). They've been doing it for so long that you'd think they would have received the data that it doesn't work. Sure, someone like Trag buys it, but he's not watching the show anyway.bada wrote:I think that is a problem with all TV now. They film the entire season then release it. Agree its subjective but the thing with review bombing is it works both ways. You can positive review bomb too and I don't think any studio is above that. If the general public loved this Disney would be trumpeting the view numbers from sea to shining sea.epilogue wrote:I support people's opinions. Totally. I just also think facts matter.
'It's a bad show' isn't a fact. People ARE absolutely, factually, reviewing bombing The Acolyte.
I think it did work for a while. From a marketing perspective, engagement, whether positive or negative, really doesn't matter all that matters is people are talking about it. Online chatter....trending and viral videos. For a while the haters and the lovers were going back and forth owning each other but eventually the haters turned to apathy and the lovers realized they only were into it to yell at the haters and now no one is watching.BurtReynolds wrote:The reason they have these ready-made criticisms of fans ready to go is because for some bizarre reason they think it still works as marketing (if it ever did). It definitely works both ways. But it's a different animal.bada wrote:Agree its subjective but the thing with review bombing is it works both ways.
