I finally had Founders KBS
I thought it lived up to the hype pretty well. It was very tasty and for the amount of alchohol it had not too boozy

My usual bottle shop got two cases and I missed the last bottle by a few minutes. One of these days I'll get to try it.intodeep wrote:I finally had Founders KBS

Found a really cool convenience shop with ~120 beers, picked up Founders Imperial Stout. Looking forward to trying it.

I've been a beer nerd for 5 solid years now and i've missed it every year. I actually did not even get any this time.vegman wrote:My usual bottle shop got two cases and I missed the last bottle by a few minutes. One of these days I'll get to try it.intodeep wrote:I finally had Founders KBS

A guy i drink with at my local pub had one extra. A few months ago i had a pliney the elder and gave it to him so he surprised me last week and came in with a kbs.

Sup fellas! I have the rest of the day off and decided to crack a few beers this afternoon. This is what I'm drinking:

It's a good IPA with a malty taste. Not a purists IPA but very good and very drinkable. I'm going to stop there before I sound like a beer advocate dork.
I'm about to finish beer two and go for a nice long bike ride in the hot Mississippi sun. When I get back I'm going to grab a shower and then beer 3 and maybe 4 while I get on some guitar playing.

The brewery is about an hour from me. I've done the tour. Drank all their beers at one time or another. Their stuff isn't the best I've had but it's enjoyable. Andygator is a very good Maibock and their Abbey Ale is a very good dubbel. Those are my two favorites from them. Not top tier God beers but worth the money and tasty. The only Abita beer that really let me down was their Amber and their Golden.E.H. Ruddock wrote:I haven't had too much luck with Abita beers.
Oh yeah, Restoration is a very good Pale Ale with something along the lines of 10% proceeds going to help with the gulf oil spill.
Less judgement, more curiosity.

Re: You Will Drink Good BEER ... And It Will Be Delicious!
I like Andy Gator and Turbodog.
So having had a few Green Flash IPA's and now Palate Wrecker, I don't like it as much as I thought I would. I mean it's a good west coast IPA, but I think I find other examples more enjoyable.
Ballast Point Sculpin and a few Stone offerings I think I like better. I also liked Tower 10. I think the Green Flash beers could use a better malt balance than they have. The hops are good, I'd just like more malt.

This is really cool. If you have a French press, you can use it to add flavors into your beer. You just pour your beer over the ingredients, let it infuse for 3 minutes and then press down the plunger.

I too am not a huge Abita fan, but I did enjoy Restoration. It is a pale ale and i liked it. Not my fav pale ale but perhaps my fav abita.
I like Andy Gator but I have bad memories of it. I was young and foolish and thought i could drink high gravity beer like i drank miller lites. It did not go well and i learned a lesson that day.

My favorite Abita beer is the Pecan Harvest, I love when it comes out every year.

went down to the Toledo Zoo and stopped by an Ohio beer store, and found a couple bottles of DFH 75 on the shelf, and most importantly, bought a 4 pack of Green Flash West Coast IPA. Excited to try it.

Re: You Will Drink Good BEER ... And It Will Be Delicious!
question, my local beer store has a case of Founder's Harvest Ale sitting in a dark, cool storage room. Has been there for a couple of months. They said I could have it if I want because they forgot about it and now they are worried it might be bad. Do you think it's worth trying? That was one of my favorite Founder's seasonals this year...

if you can buy one bottle first, do it. if you have to commit to buying the whole case, skip itE.H. i interpreted "have it" as for free. so yeah, why not? you don't have to drink a whole bottle in one sitting if you're worried it'll come back at you a couple hours later.

Those, amazingly, are easy to come by here... let me know what you think before I comment further...@SkitchP wrote:went down to the Toledo Zoo and stopped by an Ohio beer store, and found a couple bottles of DFH 75 on the shelf, and most importantly, bought a 4 pack of Green Flash West Coast IPA. Tried a few new brews this weekend. Saturday I picked out four sixers and a four-banger to bring home but with a few growlers and wine in tow I didn't have enough room so Sunday rolls around and thus they sold all their Sculpin and Racer 5, not happy at all; however Lagunitas Sucks, Firestone Walker Union Jack and Double Jack are great brews.
