I have never listened to 'Lightning Bolt.'
But I have heard Mind Your Manners and Sirens on the radio, and I went to a LB tour concert.

No, didn't listen to it.
Here's the deal. Yeah, it may be a dud of an album as many here suggest. But still, I have a full Pearl Jam album to get into. Sitting back and listening to the tunes, reading the lyrics, seeing who wrote which song, looking over liner notes...all that great stuff that comes with exploring a new album. I have an entire Pearl Jam album to discover!
It's not a dud of an album at all. There's a bunch of pretentious doofs at this forum who think they know what's best for a Pearl Jam fan, but it's such a personal experience. For me, it's one of my favorite albums by them. I will say this though- the production values suck ass in my opinion. When you turn the volume up, you get a crappier experience instead of a better one.
Highlights for me off Avocado: Marker in the Sand, Severed Hand, Army Reserve, Come Back (I friggin' adore the guitar solos here- this song reminds me of "All or None"), and Inside Job.

Avocado production values suck ass = Agreed. CHECK
When you turn the volume up, it is a crappier experience = Agreed. CHECK
Avocado highlights- Marker, Army Reserve, Severed Hand = Agreed. CHECK (you missed Parachutes - best song on the album)
I am a pretentios doof
I think I know what's best for a Pearl Jam fan = Agreed. CHECK
Inside Job and Come Back are highlights. = Nope. They suck donkey balls. CHECK
Come Back reminds me of All or None = Nope. CHECK

In my personal experience, it was a waste of eleven dollars.

You would've just done something pretentious with those eleven dollars anyways.

Self Titled is alright and all but when I listen to it I can't help but think "Man, I wish I heard this at The Cavern Club back in '61."

I guess I'm a pretentious doof, b/c I agree with you. Come Back and Inside Job are terrible, and Parachutes is the best song on the album.

If Come Back and Inside Job were the worst songs on the album, it would be better than Riot Act. Sadly they are not, and it is not. To me they are S/T upper tier.
I don't think S/T is bad though, better than Backspacer and Lightning Bolt.

I love: Life Wasted, World Wide Suicide, Comatose, Parachutes
I quite like: Come Back
I like: Severed Hand, Wasted Reprise, Marker
Every other song is some degree of okay. They all have elements I like, but they're offset by things I don't.
I'd really put those top 4 against (and ahead of) the best 4 songs on every other pearl jam album after the first 3. Yields top 4 might be better.

The Black Market Avocado compilation is friggin' sweet. It has replaced the actual album for me.

The crunchy guitar moment that happens at about 4:20 into Come Back is Pearl Jam at its finest. Seriously epic transition to flat out wailing.
