get st louis. iginla wasnt the piece they are missing. and i love how dougie didn't take ryder or lay out on the pass when the habs made it 5-4. he just skated a straight line into rask. looked like a 2 on none. i hope everyone apologized to rask after the game, especially the shoot out shooters.

horton's & ference are gone next year. using capgeek's calculator, i've got the Bs 1M over w/ all 3 players on the roster next year, at this year's price (translation that means resigning jagr to 4.5M next year)

Acccording to capgeek, the Bruins only have $6m in salary space next year (the cap is $64.3m). You add back the $4m Savard is making and that gives them $10m in cap space. Yandle makes $5.5m, St. Louis makes $5.6m, which puts them over the cap, and that's without having a goalie on the roster.

i don't know that the calculator i was using was for next year, but looking at the numbers on the site next year currently includes Torey Krug (1.7) & Matt Bartkowski (.650). not to mention, there's no saying if peverley is part of one of the 3 deals i've mentioned (3.2M). That would make things very possible to manage.

do i pretend any of this is likely? no.
but would trading for those 3 guys be a huge splash and could be managed.

I am really loving this shortened season. Much greater sense of urgency (agency?) in every game. Doesnt hurt that the Wild are showing signs of being a great team and Parise and Sutter are doing everything they were hoped to do. We have solid 3.5 lines right now.

From what it sounds like, Calgary told Boston at noon that they had a deal and instead of closing it, Chiarelli went to Sully's Tap and started pounded beers.

everyone is blaming the GM, but for the trade to happen jerome had to sign off on it. Boston was the front runner for sure but when he heard pitts was in on it, thats where he wanted to go so he was dealt there. if they said no, boston gives us more, i am sure he would have thumbed his nose at that and said then no trade me.

My brother plays at Yale with Kenny Agostino. I have watched or attended all of his games the last two season. He is a legit NHL prospect. He has great size and really good skill. He should probably play his senior year at Yale and will need a year in the AHL but he can have a really good NHL career. Just to draw a comparison, I would be shocked if he wasnt better than Lee Stempniak.

That's why I think Lucia was a terrible choice for the US WJC team. His team's chronically underperform in the tournament.

He has been fairly successful just because of the players. And he inherited a hell of a core from Woog but he has lost his way or mojo. Time for new blood.
