I think he was...could't find the email...the Surface Envy live video that was posted months ago seems like something he might have done and it's a great video with lots of great footage...I still think something could be done compiling all of the pro-shot footage out there....any volunteer?ridleybradout wrote:Wasn't that someone Lance Bangs (Mr Corin Tucker)?digster wrote:There was also someone filming the last two shows before the hiatus in the Crystal Ballroom. I did the cds... lol
I'm too OCD for video, I'd never be happy with the results.

Yeah, he was there, but I think I saw a small crew if I remember. You can see some footage in this interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmLZX1bt8LA), and it's courtesy of Bangs. It seems edited, so it exists in some form, but just hasn't seen release.ridleybradout wrote:Wasn't that someone Lance Bangs (Mr Corin Tucker)?digster wrote:There was also someone filming the last two shows before the hiatus in the Crystal Ballroom. That "last show ever" at the Crystal is still one of the best shows I've ever seen. What a night. Also remember lots of filming going on.

My current S-K hot take:
One Beat is a better album than The Woods, and their high water mark

Entertain, and Jumpers disagree. I can understand someones personal feelings liking one album over another, but... Entertain and Jumpers, and the whole Woods album is so good, if anything the water level did not drop offswan wrote:My current S-K hot take:

I've thought this for quite a while. The Woods is great, but a bit overrated.swan wrote:My current S-K hot take:

I really have no idea what my favorite album of theirs is. If I'm being completely honest with myself, it might actually be All Hands on the Bad One.

Dig Me Out
One Beat
The Hot Rock
No Cities to Love
Self Titled
Call the Doctor
All are great for me. The first 4 albums are all nearly tied, and the other 4 albums too, I'm not even sure about my order. It feels wrong to have Call the Doctor last, because I love it. But S/T is criminally underrated as well, and I think I'm more inclined to listen to it these days.
It's interesting how I got into all of these nearly at the same time (when NCTL came out), and while I love that album I feel like No Cities to Love has aged rather poorly compared to the rest. It used to be near the top for me.

Re: Sleater Kinney / Wild Flag / Quasi / related bands
I remember having a discussion on SK's old board years ago. Almost all of us, put the ST, and Call the Doctor last, and the general feeling, is because no Janet. I would love to hear them play a few of the ST songs live again. Outside of Sold Out and Be Yr Mama, I don't recall seeing any of those on any bootlegs after 2000.
The Woods is easily my number 1
Call the Doctor and ST are my bottom 2
the other 5 though, I cant rank, if I had to, id probably just go in the order they came out.

It's true that the run of All Hands > One Beat > Woods is pretty flawless
