There is an interview with Angle on YT talking about the match and the bumps. The sound of Shane's skull hitting the concrete after the failed belly to belly through the glass still makes me sick.
Angle gave him the Angle Slam off of the top rope in that match too, it was fucking awesome, and I cant remember him doing it before or since.

It's really hard to find WWE highlight videos without shitty music playing over them...but for the curious:

Angle was so good from like 01-03. Not that he wasnt good after that, but in those years, he was about as good as there has ever been.

It's true.

In 01 alone, he had a series of classic matches with Benoit, moved on to that McMahon match, and then was able to coax 3 really good matches out of Austin when Austin was winding down and good matches were few and far between. Angle's matches with Benoit alone in that 3 year period are just fantastic.

Angle-Benoit at the Rumble 2003 was incredible

I've read that their match at Wrestlemania 17 was basically a shoot match with a scripted finish.

Only other time I remember an Angle slam off the top was against HBK at Wrestlemania 21. Which was a great match except for the finish. The Angle slam off the top should have ended. HBK tapping out at Mania was strange.

Agreed. This match gets crapped on by a lot of wrestling experts but I loved it too.

Huge Angle fan. He was incredible. His match vs Austin at Summerslam in 2001 was one of the best babyface performances I have ever seen. Also, the match with Taker at No Way Out 2006 is one of my all time favorites.

I have read that as well. Still a solid match though. Not that his is always a bad thing. The Savage/Flair match at Wrestlemania 8 was scripted and turned out great.

Angle got a lot of shit for being a "spot monkey" but he was still incredibly entertaining. If you look at his catalog of matches few match up to his.

I wasn't dissing the match, it was fantastic. What I meant was the finish was the only thing that wasn't real.

Oh right I know. I didn't think you were dissing it. A lot of "experts" hate that stuff. As long as it's fun and suspends reality I dig it.

Gayest thread ever!

*unless you're < 13 years of age. In that case, I give you a pass on watching oiled up roidheads fake fight in their underwear with shaven armpits. ;)

That's the way I feel about people watching shows about zombies, biker gangs, and meth dealers

Thank you haha. How is it any different than watching Walking Dead or Sons of Anarchy? Both of which I despise.

You're right. What an asshole comment. I mean, it's not like I had to even comment here. If I don't like wrestling, I could just stay out of this thread. Instead, I made a rude, sexist remark that doesn't reflect well on my own personality. I've obviously been heavily influenced by 2013 Eddie Vedder :shake:

Sorry again, RM!

Well, that wasn't as bad as drunk dialing, I guess.
