Agaetis Byrjun was my first post-rock album. As much as I love that one, Takk is probably my favorite. It's also one of their stronger compositional albums, where melody and arrangements are just as important as atmosphere.

I vacillate between ( ) and Takk... as my favorite album, very mood dependent; however I find myself listening to Hvarf/Heim more than any other release.theplatypus wrote:Agaetis Byrjun was my first post-rock album. Those are probably my top two as well, but depending on my mood I'll also throw on Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust quite a bitoasisfan35 wrote:I vacillate between ( ) and Takk... as my favorite album, very mood dependent; however I find myself listening to Hvarf/Heim more than any other release.theplatypus wrote:Agaetis Byrjun was my first post-rock album. Has any non Icelandic person ever been able to talk about that album without having to copy+paste the title?

Re: Sigur Rós
I took my brother to see them in a small theater in Charleston. It was so cool and surreal because at the beginning everyone was sitting down, lost in thought, occasionally bobbing their heads, but into the music. By the end of the show, everyone (including myself and my brother, who is somewhat reserved at shows) were standing up losing their minds. It was insane, and as someone who has been to A LOT of concerts in my life, I've never had a deep down emotional feeling to live music like that before.Strat wrote:Easily one of the most magnificent live experiences ive ever seen. I remember driving home at first my brother and I couldn't shut up about how awesome the show was. Then, it just got quiet. 2 hours later we were home and he was like "I just can't stop thinking about that show".
Awesome.

When they played in Omaha in like 07-08ish there was a tornado warning. They played the second half of their set in the hall way.
