hello everyone,
I know it's not the best time to ask - with all the SU reissue news and the replacement drummer ABSENCE of news...
but does anyone still have the files of the 1989 Maxwell's (Hoboken NJ) show? this used to circulate in mp3, but I can't find a working link...
thanks!

I know it to be true but I can't find you a source right now. Sorry. Both of those songs date from the
Superunknown era, possibly earlier.

Tighter and Tighter would have fit well on the 2nd half of Superunknown.

"No Attention" is said to be written in the Badmotorfinger era, the source Wikipedia cites is this article:

'A jam amongst Soundgarden's friends occured in early January of 1995. The occasion was Pearl Jam's "Self-Pollution Radio" hijacking, featuring programming made in Seattle heaven. Soundgarden performed three songs, one of which was the relentless pummel-fest called "No Attention." The track shines on the new album, but it's taken five years for the band to get it right.'
Same article is the source for the Tighter & Tighter info:
'Thayil says that "Tighter and Tighter" is the only spillover from Superunknown.'

You know, the absolute weakest point on Superunknown would be equal to most bands absolute highest point. What a masterpiece! I am seriously looking forward to the 5.1 of this...
I think my three favorite songs on this are now Mailman, Limo Wreck, and 4th of July.
Of course, I can't tell you how many times these have changed for me in the last 20 years. Depending on the day and the mood really...

Yeah I'll definitely get sucked into forking out a shitload of $ for the super deluxe. Have to say I'm disappointed in the selection of b-sides as in there's really nothing "new" here. The 5.1 mix is a sweet inclusion, I just really hope they don't fuck up the remaster. The remasters on Telephantasm sound like absolute shit, but I actually liked the production on King Animal. What excites me most are the demos for just about every track.
This reissue also begs the question, where the hell is the BMF reissue?! I know it wasn't as big a commercial success, but c'mon! Can you imagine JCP and Bulldozers in a 5.1 mix? TOTD too for that matter. Hoping we see the same for DOTU in 2016.

Soundgarden Will Perform Superunknown Front-To-Back At SXSW
Lady Gaga might not be able to perform at SXSW the way she wants, but the Austin clusterfuck won’t be short on way-too-famous people this year, in case you were concerned. Apple is bringing its iTunes festival to SXSW for the first time, taking over Austin’s Moody Theater, and they’ve already lined up shows with people like Coldplay and Pitbull. Meanwhile, Soundgarden’s grunge landmark Superunknown turns 20 next month, and they’re planning a big summer reissue. And the band has just announced that they’ll play Superunknown front-to-back for the first time ever as part of the iTunes Festival. It goes down 3/13 at the Moody Theater. Come together with your hands.

And this is what appears in their official page:
Soundgarden will be headlining night three of the iTunes Festival at SXSW in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Superunknown (available on iTunes for pre-order on March 11th). Chris Cornell, Matt Cameron, Kim Thayil and Ben Shepherd will perform the album front to back for the first time ever.

They should only reissue BMF if they completely remix and remaster it. The mix just kills it for me - it's too dry and too flat.

That'd be cool with me, you're right many of the songs come across rather flat (Searching and Somewhere come to mind).
I'm hoping the "b-sides/unrealeased" collection that Kim has been working on for the last 100 years will include some more Superunknown era material....

Some of the demos should be pretty cool, but do we really need another version of Spoonman or FOBD?
If you're going to have a separate disc for the demos, why leave it at 9 tracks? why not throw in a demo of Mailman or Limo Wreck or one of the b-sides? Not that I'm complaining or anything

True regarding Spoonman and FOBD, personally I've always preferred the "video version" of FOBD over the studio version. All my bitching aside, I know I'll still get sucked into buying the super deluxe.
Speaking of Mailman, I hope they do a proper release one day of the 96/97ish MTV Live n Loud performance. That version of Mailman is a fucking monster.
