I knew that fact. But we don't know for a fact they DIDNT steal the first ones. We just know they DID steal the second.

The Rebellion was much more human-centric before the Battle of Yavin, so I doubt the Bothans had anything to do with it. They really didn't start building a bigger coalition with other races until afterwards.

That's it, no more Star Wars talk for today!

I thought I heard somewhere that the mission depicted in this film was going to fail? I can't recall where, though.

it would be funny to see this elaborate engaging heist fail, and everyone dies, and the see a credits sequence where leia nonchalantly strolls over to some computer terminal and steal the plans while everyone is out to lunch

It would sort of make sense for Rouge One to be a diversion that was meant to fail thus making the Empire confident while Simple Tortures Bothens steal the plans unawares. A suicide mission or better yet the members of Rouge One being sent on a suicide mission without their knowledge not meant be successful would be different for Star Wars. Not sure if they would be willing to show a ruthless Rebellion.

Well, Edwards has said that Disney pushed him to go as dark as he wants. We'll see.

Chris McQuarrie brought in to sharpen up the script before filming.

He did Usual Suspects and is a Star Wars fan apparently.

If this is taking place between III and IV, then he wouldn't yet be Grand Admiral Thrawn. And these Jedi Council idiots should know that if they are going to host a nerdy podcast, right?
