In 2006 my dad passed away in his sleep. It was sudden. Now, he wasn't perfect. Far from it. He could be difficult to deal with and he drank like a man trying to forget something from his past. There's no easy way to describe what you go through. Everything in your life just kind of freezes. Three months or so after he died I got the ten club e-mail (I think it was ten club) for the Tom Petty and Pearl Jam two night concert in Denver, Colorado.
I called up my three best friends and we all got tickets for both nights. We stayed in a hotel in downtown Denver. We drank and ate like royalty and listened to two bands in electric form. It was one of those trips, and all around experiences, that stays with you the rest of your life. It got me going again.
