I haven't liked anything I've heard from it. Do I really need to listen to the whole thing? I thought her VMA performance was abysmal.

No, you don't need to listen to the whole thing. If you don't like the songs then that's that. I didn't see her VMA performance or even the visual album.

Nope. Kanye is.

I understand why people like Beyonce, but her music/voice doesn't really do it for me. I've never been able to make it through a whole album.

Why do you insist on doing this?

I don't think that's true.

I genuinely like Beyonce. I genuinely dislike Kanye. I'm willing to concede that others like Kanye and I'll give them that. I don't get it. He doesn't speak to me. I think he's essentially the Donald Trump of the music industry. But I don't try to put that on others. I get that others like him. It's all totally subjective.

It's the same with Beyonce. Her work speaks to me. I like her work. So, yeah, when someone tells me she's "The most overrated artist of our time" my only response is... "hmm... do I agree.. no, I don't... okay so who do I think fits the bill... Oh, obviously, Kanye."

You're entitled to your option (duh) just like I am. You think Beyonce is overrated? Great. No skin off my teeth. But it shouldn't bother you that I think the same of Kanye. What fucking difference does it make? You love him. He's changed your life. He means the world to you.

Beyonce is fun for me. And far from "the most overrated artist of our time." There are a ton of artists I would put before her on that list. Kanye just happens to be at the top for me.

Honest question, how much of Beyonce's music does she write? I honestly have no clue.

She's much more impressive as a live performer, I think. It was her live stuff that was the gateway to her studio stuff, for me.

Don't know. Don't care. Not sure what difference it makes.

Though a brief glance at her wikipedia discography shows that she's a credited writer on the majority of her songs. I don't know what that really means. But she gets credit on most of it.

I can safely assume almost 0%. Very, very few pop acts are writing their own music these days. Taylor Swift and Kanye are anomalies, and I think Kanye has been outsourcing a lot of his songs for a while now. Don't believe the credits in the liner note; Rihanna is a known credit-stealer.
Laura Burhenn will tell you that T Swift is not writing her own stuff.
