Okay, fine...

I'll jump in the middle of this argument. It stands to reason that the goal of all advertising is to appeal to a wide audience and attract customers. The Dark Tower has a built-in audience of book fans. Those people are largely going to see the movie regardless. It makes all the sense in the world to me that this trailer is cut to appeal to new fans more than book/constant fans.

That doesn't mean the movie won't be exactly what the trailer is showing. We just don't know yet. But there are countless examples of First Trailers to films that show a different tone/style/aesthetic than what is ultimately delivered in the final film.

We'll have to wait and see what the next trailer delivers. And then what the film is. I'm still super excited and I think given the fun easter eggs and references we got that the movie will still appeal to me as a longtime fan of the books. But I also expected/was hoping for something less generic looking. So, the trailer (just as a trailer on its own) is underwhelming overall to me.
