Meh - that's just for upcoming shows. When is there going to be something about the new album?

Pretty awesome that they're playing No Quarter again. The Grudge has been in every set as well, which is :bammer:

Also they busted out Sweat (the first song on their first album) in SF & have been playing it every other show since

Really wish there was a NW show so I could see that set

Following nearly ten years of work on Tool’s forthcoming new album, the band has been forced to start from scratch following a mishap during an update to the computer system the album was being recorded on.

Since the band has been working on the album for roughly a decade, members of Tool were still utilizing Windows XP because they did not want to lose their program settings. When Tool guitarist Adam Jones left the studio to watch an episode of Monday Night Raw, an automated update to Windows 10 was applied to the system recording the band’s highly anticipated album. Members of the band had reportedly been selecting the “Maybe Later” option for several years.

Jones was reportedly highly upset that he had to miss the rest of Monday Night Raw to start over on the album. Producer Tim Felix is currently learning how to use Windows 10, which is expected to take several weeks.

This is an unprecedented setback for the band, and now it is possible fans could be forced to wait nearly twenty years for a new Tool album due to a total loss of audio files.

Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan reportedly said that Jones better ‘learn to swim’ following the massive oversight. As for the new operating system, Jones is reportedly a big fan of the updates made to solitaire, and describes it as ‘extremely user friendly’.

They're at a point where that could be real or an Onion article and I can't tell the difference.
Spoiler: show
You can't go from XP to 10 so I know which it is.

Tool is a band for whom I'll still buy the actual CD when it comes out.

I've pretty much lost all interest at this point. I don't care if they release a new album or not.

Same. I'll listen if it comes out, but I won't be upset if it doesn't.

It's certainly one of the last 10-15 that I've bought. Going back what 15 years now?

Yea, I don't get it. Hugely successful rock band full of amazing artists and only ever put out 4.5 albums over 25 years. WTF?

I don't understand this kind of resentment towards the band at all.

Should they have been more active? Released more records? Why?

I'm pretty Sarge was being facetious.

If members of the band wouldn't lead their fans on for years regarding a new album, then I'd say they don't owe their fans shit. Since they've been stringing us along for so long, though, it is very frustrating... especially since they still play a handful of shows every year, too. Kinda makes me think they keep trying, but don't produce quality results anymore... at least, not up to their own standards.

Perhaps he was (and I'm sorry if you were, Sarge) but there would appear to be plenty of Tool fans who do feel exactly that way.

Yes, because more Tool albums would increase the overall happiness in the world. :-P
