there's nothing weird about the verses, nothing at all; Evacuation is *much* weirder; the melody is far weaker than many many previous PJ melodies I could name; the rest? is all about the construction of the track which I can't actually hear in the finished result

Yeah. It’s definitely a different sounding PJ song. Doesn’t the guitar go through a drum machine or something? When the record was released there was an interview with the band saying it was a different and experimental sound for them (if I remember correctly mike wanted to play it for his friends because it sounded so different).

OK, under that definition of experimental I'll take it

I hope there are a few deeper and more inventive moments on the album, even if we don't get another You Are or DOTC; but I'm also happy that we haven't got another Supersonic or Future Days (that piano at least)
