He had an irrational reaction that he now regrets. That makes sense. What is strange is his decision to talk about it on a press junket...
Why is that strange? i would say its fucking refreshing.
Would it be refreshing if it wasn't strange? If it was common? Now we're getting into a granular semantic argument but of course it's a strange move, regardless how you feel about it

Cronenberg is in director and that is truly sad.

Cronenberg hasn’t made a good movie since Eastern Promises, and he hasn’t made a great movie since A History of Violence.

I haven’t seen many and I need to remedy that. I love Naked and really want to see Meantime. Happy-Go-Lucky didn’t do much for me and I didn’t make it very far into Mr. Turner.

You should. Secrets and lies is another.

I also meant to ask do you know Ken Loach at all?
Fantastic filmmaker. Wind that shakes the barley and I Daniel Blake. Both essential

But everything he’s done is fantastic

I’ve seen and like Barley but I think that’s it. I own copies of Hidden Agenda and Looks & Smiles but haven’t watched them.

I’d like to see Poor Cow, mostly because of how Soderbergh used it in The Limey.

Yeah, if anything, this makes me like Neeson more. I respect the vulnerability and self-reflection.

While Neeson has been criticized for the comments, some pundits are looking at them in a different light. John Barnes, an ESPN commentator and former soccer player, for example, passionately put forth a defense of the actor. Barnes, who experienced a slew of racist attacks during his professional career, believes that Neeson is simply telling the truth about how pervasive prejudicial thought was at that time in history. “So for this one black person who raped this woman, he then looked at it as all black people are rapists. Now, what he’s actually saying is, ‘This is what I thought, this is what I saw, and I am ashamed and I am horrified, and after a week I thought to myself, ‘What am I doing?’” he said.
Pretty much how I read the interview so I was surprised at the backlash. People are going to people though.

Yeah, that’s the thing: he’s not saying “I want to kill a black person.” He’s saying he had an ugly, primal instinct, recognized it, and corrected it.

But right now, that’s not good enough for people. You can’t just be flawless now, you have to have ALWAYS been flawless.

Like Luke in Last Jedi.
He saw what his nephew would become causing the death of billions. And briefly considered killing him to prevent it. And couldn’t. A moments thought.

Same same.

Let’s hope it continues until politicians and people who supported trump and wore MAGA hats are held to the same standard.
