Huh, I actually enjoyed this movie quite a bit. Succinct, well done. Not a whole lot to it, but really good for what it is. Like a really well made 2-episode TV show.

I wanted to like Animal Kingdom more. Great cast, but the kid was distracting bad. The screenplay left a little something to be desired.
It was fine it was okay

Mandy
Hoping I will like it better this second time. Watched it in the spring of 2020, and was not a big fan.

I had to stop it with 25 minutes left, will finish it later.
I did get a somewhat better impression, but also thought it was dull in places. Think the ending is the best, so look forward to finishing it.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Finished it, and it just confirmed to me what I wrote before. There was a 20-30 min period in the first half that was unbearable, but overall I enjoyed it quite a bit more this time.

how come? Shiva Baby was awesome, and this one is genuinely irreverent and challenging.

Watched Elysium this evening. A promising start, but ultimately nothing special. I think I might try Snowpiercer next.
Last night I watched Possessor which I enjoyed.

I felt similarly about Elysium. I think you'll dig Snowpiercer.

Snowpiercer has been great so far. Pretty much exactly what I wanted from Elysium.
The more I think about Elysium the more it kinda pisses me off how mediocre it was.

Watching In the Mouth of Madness. So far so good. I like Sam Neil, but his accent consistency in this movie is terrible. Luckily that's not something that really bothers me.

Yeah, that was excellent. I also watched The Prince of Darkness to round out a nice Carpenter double feature.
