Watched Carrie tonight. Some of the effects were a little dated, but overall I loved it.

I know VG and the other RMer with Argentine connections really liked To Catch a Killer. I thought it was alright? I found the beginning, the crime itself, to be rather disturbing, but the rest of the movie didn't especially impress me. It is a good-looking movie, there was one shot of Shailene Woodley swimming that was especially beautiful, and some great stuff going on with police lights and shadows at the end, and some other stuff. The story itself has some bumps, but I suppose ends up in an interesting place. So, yeah, alright, worth a look, not one of the greats

Last night was movie night with my parents and we watched Jeremiah Johnson. Really good. Definitely more violent than I was expecting.

Tonight I'm rewatching Manhunter.

I loved the movie not because it was made by an argentinian director but because the narrative, framing and photography are gorgeous. I also love how grim and bleak it is.

I do believe it suffers from character´s over exposure, specially at the end.

I have the afternoon off so I'm watching Silence of the Lambs for the first time. One of my most glaring movie blindspots.

One of my all-time favourites. I think you'll feel the same. Dang. How've you not seen this yet?

I honestly don't know. The crazy thing is that I've seen Manhunter, Red Dragon, and Hannibal (the movie and the TV show)

Have you seen Jeremiah Johnson? Michael Mann's Thief? Bringing out the Dead?

1. No.
2. I've never seen 30 minutes of a Michael Mann movie I didn't have a problem with. His aesthetic annoys me.
3. I've tried to watch Brining out Dead several times and each time found it excruciatingly boring.

How about The Long Good Friday? The Duelists? The Verdict?

1. No
2. No, but Ridley Scott has let me down too many times. Not worth the risk anymore.
3. No, but I doubt I'll get much out of a legal drama

Are you telling me these are "great" movies? Or merely good?

They're all movies that I really enjoyed.

Saw a couple of Almodovar shorts yesterday. Both English language films, which was sort of weird for him.

'Strange Way of Life' is a Western starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal. It was cool but felt very sketchbook-y. Some fantastic moments, though. Very minor Almodovar.

'The Human Voice' is fucking brilliant. It's basically just Tilda Swinton being amazing for a half an hour. I really loved it.

Silence of the Lambs was obviously fantastic. Making it a double feature now with Hud.

No work today because it's raining so I'm at the theater waiting to see Killers of the Flower Moon.
