I haven't seen Wolf (can't imagine I ever will for obvious reasons). But I liked American Hustle.

i can totally see how some of you would not get the brilliance of Wolf Street and the subject it touched. The final scene alone is very much telling of our current culture.

I don't need a movie to tell me how evil and depraved people can be. And this movie just dwells on it, apparently for comedic effect. How is it brilliant?

not only talking about people but mostly about a system. The final scene, hell the final frame with the room full of people looking at him as some kind of idol is very telling.

But dude, if you dont get it, its fine. Caviar isnt for everyone.

No, dude, if that's the point, I get it. It's not deep. Very boring/one dimensional.

Did those of you who enjoyed the movie laugh at the "comedy" of it all? Cause maybe that's what I'm not getting. I don't find any of it the least bit funny.

A classic story about a man rising from nothing to the peak of power, becoming corrupted by power and ultimately undone by his own hubris?

Yeah I don't get it.

DiCaprio trying to get home after the ludes hit was hilarious. And since we are supposed to be laughing at him, it seems like your moralizing wouldn't interfere with the comedy here.

He was undone and corrupt even before he was successful and powerful. There is no character arc, just a (hilarious?) inevitability. He doesn't change or grow or regret his misdeeds, only being caught. Money, excess, success is king, and isn't it hilarious?

It was just sad and pathetic to me. Not the least bit funny on any level to be endangering the lives of others with his bullshit.
