DiCaprio trying to get home after the ludes hit was hilarious. And since we are supposed to be laughing at him, it seems like your moralizing wouldn't interfere with the comedy here.
It was just sad and pathetic to me. Not the least bit funny on any level to be endangering the lives of others with his bullshit.
lol
Is it funny when a drunk driver murders an entire family? This shit happens all the time and it's not quaint fodder for comedy.

not only talking about people but mostly about a system. The final scene, hell the final frame with the room full of people looking at him as some kind of idol is very telling.
But dude, if you dont get it, its fine. Caviar isnt for everyone.
Now see, I goddamn love caviar
sure you do

No, this is helping me to understand. I was seething in hatred while you all were laughing. That's what I was missing.

Here's a good review. The difference between this and Goodfellas is you can find a way into Henry Hill and sympathize with him, whereas in this one you just hate Jordan the whole way through and it's a miserable, when not boring, experience spending 3 hours with him. But again, if you're laughing and entertained by the porn of it all, I guess it's all good fun for you and worth it.

It's more of a thing where you at least question whether you'd make the same or similar decisions if you were born into that time and place and found yourself in a similar situation. And Henry Hill at least questions some things and/or shows some remorse for his actions and those of his compadres. He is a much more (at least potentially) sympathetic character. It's completely obvious that you're not supposed to sympathize with Jordan Belfort. Anyone who does is a complete jackass.

That notion that you need to sympathize to a lead character to like a movie or a book is just ugh

I can list many "praised hits" of all types that are complete garbage, so that point holds no water. And the thing is, I really appreciate Scorsese (duh), and I'm just trying to figure this thing out and why it's such a dud for me, which is why I've watched it so many times.

If not the lead character, then someone or something, or else what's the point?

While describing anything as "ugh" is in fact super ugh, I agree with TVG.

This is interesting. Can you name a movie or show you like with no redeeming qualities in any of its main characters?
