The most nuanced record they've ever done, without being incoherent.
Vitalogy that is...

Darkness on the Edge of Town or Born to Run are probably easier first steps.

Honestly, if you're a classic rock guy then Everything Must Go is probably the only album there you'll have any legitimate interest in.

It's getting to the point where I am actually considering it against Riot Act and No Code. Binaural is still a step or two away, though...

I'm thoroughly enjoying Lightning Bolt, but I still giggle when people talk about it climbing into the first seven records' bunk bed.

Hey, I love me some Bruce. And Nebraska is an amazing album and completely devoid of cheese. But his best is The River. That's all, carry on hating.

Yeah I'm not ready to go there yet. I have no idea where this will land. But it's exceeded my expectations and there's more than a few songs here that will have staying power for me.

I would think I would be one of the last to do it, but i certainly am starting to consider it. Song by song, it's starting to be in the ballpark.
Nothing is sacred in life, folks.
I've been doing a lot of listening to all of the albums lately, so I'm getting a good mix. These are are pretty damn good.

I meant it in the softest sense. But seriously, I didn't mean to distract from my main point - the Nebraska album is amazing.

I wasn't making fun of it. I thought it was pretty awesome. Especially the part where you were listening to the Temptations.

Cool. I'll check it. I've listened to classic rock more than any other genre but that stage has been passed for a lot of years. I'm not really interested in classic rock anymore other than when pj puts out that sound. Other than a plethora of instrumental music, my favorite bands are 1. pearl jam 2. led zeppelin or kayo dot 4. allice in chains 5. soundgarden or nirvana . I became bored with clasic rock, 90's post grunge, 90's alternative and 90's pop, so I need to venture out more. This seems like a good place to get some ideas. I expected to hate the UK punk band you mentioned, manic street preachers, but I'm 2 songs into that album of their's you mentioned and I like it a lot. Maybe the closest band to them I've liked is one called Kinski, though they might not sound anything alike to anyone else.

okay so is yellow moon about newtown?
possibly?
also SBM and LTRP completely baffle me as to why they're on this album...

They're on the album because they're good. SBM is great.
Yellow Moon could be about Newtown, I hadn't considered that until earlier today. Considering he talked about guns in that interview.

Riot Act is far from untouchable. Vs and Binaural have there share of stinkers too.
