Really good, but hardly the masterpiece I've seen it often hailed as. The editing was the most impressive part. It didn't really feel like a 3.5 hour movie!

I've seen a lot of people hating on the use de-aging. But I don't think the de-aging itself is the problem -- it's that no matter how DeNiro's face looks, he still moves like a 70 year old man. This is especially jarring in the scene where he assaults the shopkeeper. He's meant to be a relatively young heavy, but he's waddling around like a geriatric.

Pesci's return didn't disappoint. Pacino fires on all cylinders. Good stuff overall, but not amazing.

Very impressed by Sofia Coppola's Priscilla. Going in basically blind, I found myself surprised almost immediately at the direction it took. It's the best kind of bio-pic in that it is more impressionistic than novelistic. Great performances from the two leads. Baz Luhrmann ain't got nothin' on Sofia Coppola

Just finished Sly on Netflix. Pretty interesting. He seems to have quite a different outlook on life at his age than Arnold does.

I wanna see this one, it opens here in January. Its been a long time since i wanted to see something Sofia Coppola did, and its surprising after the piece of shit movie she did before this one.

Thats one i need to rewatch. I loved it in the theatre, yes the montage was out of this world good. His last movie also rules in that department.

The ending was so powerful.

Yeah, that last one was a bit of a nothing. But her movie before that, the remake of The Beguiled, I thought it was pretty tremendous.

There is really no reason to compare Luhrmann's Elvis movie with Coppola's Priscilla movie beyond the obvious, as they are very different movies, but it's amazing that the smaller, quieter movie is so much more ambitious, complex, and deep.

It’s near the top of my list of want to see 2023 movies. Glad you liked it.

I saw Elvis twice. It wasn’t perfect, but I thought it was a really enjoyable movie.

I think Ruddo recommended this one a few years ago. Took my sweet time getting to it, but holy shit. An actual masterpiece. I feel like I've been socked in the gut. And before you say "you should read the book!" -- it's on the list.
