You're probably right......I think I'm letting this 4 year break get to me, when I should be more concerned with the 6 year break we'll have for the 11th album. me too, judging by this thread we really need something to talk aboutstupidmop wrote:We got the Mike vid and BoB interview last week so I'm hoping we get an interview/ article this week too.
Hey, some of us here work in marketing/communications and we're not all bad guys.stip wrote:I think there is a longer gap here. I also suspect that (god help me) it probably makes sense to think of the marketing strategy as a wave--since there is a long time there will be crests and lulls--with the little bits of information out now seeds (permit me to mix metaphors) that will be harvested later.Waverider wrote:I'm finding the lack of information on this album anti stimulating. Am I observing this correctly? It also seems like the first single was released somewhat prematurely......of course this might all just be mindless speculation on my part.
Again, they had to start things now because of the tour. They are hardly in a full fledged pre album build up yet (I suspect)
the god help me was in reference to the wave, not the marketingCoach wrote:Hey, some of us here work in marketing/communications and we're not all bad guys.stip wrote:I think there is a longer gap here. My best guess is that the band is working with a marketing vendor, and PJ seems to pick and choose tactics it likes, but has not fully embraced a full-fledged strategy, which is a common mistake brands make. The result is a mismatch of tactics (countdown) that don't work well together.
In good marketing, it's always important to put the needs of the customer first (some great brands have an empty "customer" seat in a conference room every time they discuss a new product launch - the seat reminds them to always question how this will affect the customer). The customer chair was not present during the countdown debacle.

Looking forward to reading the reviews of, and reactions to, LB here when it leaks. Keeping expectations low personnally, but here's to hoping it's what you've been waiting four years and maybe longer for.
But this is often better than the actual album....bodysnatcher wrote:just a heads up... there's no way i'm going to read everyone's thoughts on the new album
but especially that first week or two. don't sign onto RM for 12 hours and this thread will have 55 unread pages. by the time i'd get through 3 or 4 of them, there's 10 more added.Rangi Guy wrote:But this is often better than the actual album....bodysnatcher wrote:just a heads up... there's no way i'm going to read everyone's thoughts on the new album
Someone needs to create a highlights tread, cull out all the crap and just leave us with those creaming themselves over the album and those pouring out all the vitriol in their systems about how much they hate itbodysnatcher wrote:but especially that first week or two. don't sign onto RM for 12 hours and this thread will have 55 unread pages. by the time i'd get through 3 or 4 of them, there's 10 more added.Rangi Guy wrote:But this is often better than the actual album....bodysnatcher wrote:just a heads up... there's no way i'm going to read everyone's thoughts on the new album

Tell me about it. I let about 250 pages worth of posts go ignored when Mind Your Manners and tour announcement hit.bodysnatcher wrote:but especially that first week or two. don't sign onto RM for 12 hours and this thread will have 55 unread pages. by the time i'd get through 3 or 4 of them, there's 10 more added.Rangi Guy wrote:But this is often better than the actual album....bodysnatcher wrote:just a heads up... there's no way i'm going to read everyone's thoughts on the new album
