They're not perfect albums, but they're the best seven records this band has. Riot Act is absolutely untouchable by this album, and probably by any future album.

I can't think of a single song I don't like among the first seven records.

Yellow Moon could be about Newtown, I hadn't considered that until earlier today. Considering he talked about guns in that interview.

That actually makes me more interested in this song. Need to listen again now...

I live near what happened so maybe thats just me reading to much into it but SBM is not great in this incarnation...on Uke songs yes here not so much

I don't think we'll find out definitively though, I think he said it was left open.

The original theory shared by some of us was suicide.

Riot Act is far from untouchable. Vs and Binaural have there share of stinkers too.

Ten and vitalogy are untouchable albums. Everything else is fair game

Riot act had a ton of songs that barely avoided my bottom 10. Some of the weakest songwriting in their catalog

Great: I am mine, can't keep, save you
Good: cropduster, ghost, get right
Ok: you are, 1/2 full, help help
Boring: TMW, all or none
Not good: bushleaguer, green disease, bloc

Not an impressive performance, IMO. Then again I have it on the bottom for a reason

That's where we differ I suppose. There are a ton of songs I dislike in that stretch. Vitalogy, Yield and No Code are my only untouchables. Vitalogy doesn't have a song I really don't like. Yield has a few low moments but no stinkers. No Code does have a handful I hate ( off he goes, smile, mankind, habit) but the highs will probably never be touched again by Pearl Jam. I find RA to be generally mediocre with a few above average tracks. Ten is pretty flawless but overly played . Vs I just don't connect with much. Binaural is pretty great but the top 3, thin air and soon forget do absolutely nothing for me.

So far Lightning Bolt feels better than BS, ST, RA and maybe Vs. I don't think it will rise more than that though. It may threaten yield but I love that album on its guitar work and LB doesn't come close to it in that aspect.

I think the first 5 are untouchable...for my money Binaural and Riot Act don't belong in the same class as Ten thru Yield.

Outside of NAIS the highs on Binaural can't touch the highs off the first 5 albums.

I can get behind there being no stinkers on the album though...although i've always been very indifferent to God's Dice...but its by no means as bad as Supersonic or Big Wave.

Breakerfall, Gods Dice, Evacuation (nice idea ) , soon forget. While not stinkers I don't care for Thin Air and light years is average at best. My soul is already alone go for it.
