THIS WAS SO FUCKING GOOD
DAMN TOMORROW FOR ME, FUCK EVERYTHING
It might be his best; super close call between this and Brawl for me. I absolutely love his slow, hypnotic pacing.

My fucking god. What an amazing piece of art. So fucking tense, violent and beautiful....Mel Gibson is reaching new levels in his craft. Vaughn too. Damn, this movie man....amazing.
Dev wrote:tragabigzanda wrote:Dev wrote:I watched Brawl in Cellblock 99 and I did not like it half as much as Bone Tomahawk.
I love them both but prefer Brawl but a fair margin. But then I hated Dragged Across Concrete.
Why didn't you like Brawl as much?
I think I just didn't love the story/world. It's hard for me to articulate what I didn't like on this one.
VinylGuy wrote:yeah Brawl is wonderful but i think Dragged Across Concrete is even better.
tragabigzanda wrote:I didn’t like Dragged. I found it very mean and not very fun.
VinylGuy wrote:yeah i loves how mean it was. It felt real. Loved that car chase, that ending.

See I don't get how anyone can like that guys movies. Talk about miserable garbage.
People will say how Aster or Beau is Afraid is too negative, then rave about Dragged Across Concrete. Talk about a truly loathsome view of life! I don't get it.
They are spectacularly well made movies. That in of itself is an achievement worth celebrating and enjoying.
I’m finally watching this.

Was on the edge of my seat throughout. Great story, superb acting, complex characters, separate stories intertwining without ever missing a beat, plenty said between the lines. Then finally a great climax, full on tense action. One of my movies of the year. Loved it.

I was trying to decide what to watch today, so I might finally watch Dragged Across Concrete as well. I did love Bone Tomahawk.
That Dead Reckoning rewatch will have to wait!

I have had a great time over last week watching the first seven James Bond movies. I am surprised how much I have enjoyed them.
I would rank them like this -
From Russia with Love - probably the best actual spy movie of the bunch. I love Robert Shaw as the henchman.
Goldfinger - Great villain and henchman. Bonds terry cloth romper really made me laugh.
On her Majesty's Secret Service -
Maybe a controversial choice, but I really liked Lazenby and wish he had done more movies. This one had some really funny lines from Bond and Diana Rigg was fantastic.
You Only Live Twice - this one was really crazy. Bond impersonating a Japanese man was insane. Pleasance was my favorite Blofeld.
Diamonds are Forever - Another silly plot. Connery was definitely looking old in this one, but it was still very enjoyable.
Dr No - a solid start, and surprisingly fully formed for a first movie
Thunderball - way too much of this movie occurred underwater. The villain did not make much of an impression and this movie didn't fully capture my attention. This was the only one I didn't really care for
Favorite Bond Girl - Dianna Rigg
Favorite Henchman - Robert Shaw
Favorite theme - You only live twice - Nancy Sinatra
Favorite Villain - Goldfinger

Loved Dragged Across Concrete. That was almost too tense and bleak and unpleasant, but all incredibly well done. Thank god for that bizarre end credits to lighten the mood.
I guess I need to watch Brawl in Cell Block Whatever now.

The drawings of Noomi Rapace in the middle of the movie might be the scariest part of the whole thing. Yikes

Glad you liked it. I still think Brawl is my favorite of his.

At Eternity’s Gate
Think the plot dragged on in this, and most of the actors were unimpressive. Dafoe is excellent, yet somethiing felt a bit off in his portayal of Van Gogh. Much older, less crazy than elsewhere. Movie could easily have been better. Cinematography was nice.

On The Basis Of Sex
Inspiring and interesting movie abouth Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s early years in law school and her first case, fighting for equal rights for women. Felicity Jones did a really good job as RBG.

Stan & Ollie
Final movie of the weekend. The true story (was a ton of true story movies in 2018, seemed like the hot topic of the year) of Laurel and Hardy.
«Laurel and Hardy, the world's most famous comedy duo, attempt to reignite their film careers as they embark on what becomes their swan song: a grueling theatre tour of post-war Britain.»
Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly seemed to have a ton of fun making this movie, and were both perfectly cast.
Plenty comedy, but also genuine drama here. Good movie.

Brawl in Cell Block 99
Vince Vaughn. Damn! You really did believe he could squish grown men with his bare hands.
However, a concerning amount of bone density issues. Take your supplements, people! Your bones should not be breaking that easily.

2023's been tougher for me to stay on top of every movie I want to watch.
Finally watched "The Covenant" and loved it... Underrated/Overlooked perhaps?

I felt pretty good about it most of the way through, but it felt a little rushed or incomplete in the end, as a whole.
