Bernie doesn't have the killer instinct to do that.

538 has Biden with an 88% chance of winning the nomination, 10% nobody gets a majority, and 2% chance for Bernie.

What a difference a week makes.

Silver's tweets yesterday made it seem like the model had originally placed Biden's odds even higher (due to Biden performing well in states that hadn't been polled very much) and they had to tweak things a bit so it didn't over-react there. I imagine polling after Super Tuesday will lower Biden's odds a bit, but with the states that are coming up, these odds seem right.

Always be sure to read the glosses that 538 posts, not just the raw numbers. They always outline the model's shortcomings and offer alternate scenarios that could happen (as they did before the 2016 election, which everyone forgets): https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/af ... omination/

I’d say there’s a pretty solid chance of this

I'd say she's too strong a politician and varies in public policy too much from Biden to be a match that makes sense.

I’ve worked on German engineered vehicles. I know how “stupid” Europeans can be.

Still, we seem to be decades behind on social, economic and political etiquette.
