That doesn’t make all the books and comics they appeared in canon tho. The original Thrawn Trilogy isn’t canon. Valance the bounty hunter is canon now since he’s in the comics now, but the Marvel stories he was in back in the day aren’t canon.VinylGuy wrote:They are still picking up stuff from those books and comics, for example Thrawn.wease wrote:Has something changed?dimejinky99 wrote:wease wrote:Those aren’t canondimejinky99 wrote:Palapatine always had plans though. In case of his demise. Go back to shadows of the empire and the dark horse graphic novel series if in doubt.
Plus that made the movie that much more lame because they couldn’t come up with an idea other than what a comic book writer came up with 30 years ago.
Dear boy.
No lectures will be taken from someone who can’t and won’t even keep up with canon.
Try again later when you are caught up.

I never said they couldn’t. All I said was Dark Empire and Shadows of the Empire were not canon. Then dime jumped all up in my ass trying to make the cloned emperor in the movie cool because he already did it in Dark Empire. But that made it less cool.VinylGuy wrote:im not saying everything is canon but they can chose and pick characters or ideas from those comics and make them canon.

i didnt read it as Dime saying it was well done but mostly pointing out that it was something the SW had already done, maybe with less hatred.
I do believe they did it very poorly in the last movie.

Wease is right. Its existence in Legends doesn't means it's not jarring to throw the Emperor into TROS with no groundwork.
Even if they'd laid the groundwork in a canon novel, only 8 people read those.

I didn’t mean to jump up you’re ass at all. I was just pointing out palpatine had several plans in place in case of. There’s a slew of new canon books about that if you look.
I didn’t say the non canon or canon stuff was as good or better either. New canon books all had horrible way of leading you on and giving you Just one or two tidbits that you had to read the next one to get. They did fill out the narrative and set the scene post empire quite well. Bloodlines and the other Claudia grey books. But I stopped after the first new thrawn book. It was too frustrating to read and keep up with it all. The comics especially are all over th place

I’ve got friends with entire podcasts and they read all of it and they’re always fizzing with excitement about the nuggets and cross connections and how much the comics are doing for the overall story. And they know the timeline and how it all fits together. And that’s cool for them.
It’s just a bit much to keep up with personally. Far too much.

Would they ever take a SW comic and make it into a big movie in the theaters, etc?

Re: Star Wars : The Mandalorian (Disney+ 2019)
The story group often say the comics and books are canon adjacent. So film and tv series take precedence. So you’ll never see a ilk of a book or comic But you do see stuff from both in the films and series and may even begin to see characters from them turning up into live action

Re: Star Wars : The Mandalorian (Disney+ 2019)
I don’t think they’d do a complete comic storyline, no. They may take a character/characters from the comics and use them somewhere but probably in a supporting or cameo role. The only one I could ever see them making a show or movie about would be Doctor Aphra.Coach wrote:Would they ever take a SW comic and make it into a big movie in the theaters, etc?

She was a supporting character in the first Marvel Vader series that grew so popular they’ve given her her own book. I started it but dropped it after a couple of years.Coach wrote:Interesting I would have to google that name.wease wrote:I don’t think they’d do a complete comic storyline, no.
