-How I Live Now: Total fucking masterpiece; I can't believe no one is talking about it. It's the antidote to modern YA movies. A beautiful, contemplative, evocative film that treats teenagers with adult dignity, with mature sex, casual profanity, and brutal, disturbing violence. The cinematography and visuals are gorgeous, the use of music is excellent, and the film is edited with a barely contained energy and vitality. The film feels alive. Best movie I've seen in a while.

-The Hunted (1995): Stylish, underrated action movie. I think it's the only portrayal of ninjas I've seen that doesn't feel campy and silly. There's a swordfight on a train that is all kinds of badass. I can't believe this doesn't have a cult following.

-The 13th Warrior: Insanely gory and violent, but also incredibly boring and sloppily assembled. A missed opportunity.

I enjoy loathedvermins movie reviews and agree with a lot of them, but I'm disappointed that he didn't like 13th Warrior. If he says he hated Hudson Hawk I might curl up and die.

Ever since Roger Ebert died I have been lost. I was totally reliant on his reviews.
