Stole a rifle off base?

During the weekend of May 7-9, 12 mass shootings are believed to have occurred, according to data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive. The shootings combined to kill at least 19 people and injure 40.

In this case, experts define mass shootings as incidents where 4 or more people are injured or killed, not including the shooter. The 12 incidents GVA identified from recent days include shootings in the cities of:

Kinloch, MO

Milwaukee, WI

Woodlawn, MD

Compton, CA

Detroit, MI

Oakland, CA

Citrus Heights, CA

Los Angeles, CA

Philadelphia, PA

Phoenix, AZ

Newark, NJ

And the deadliest shooting took place in Colorado Springs, CO, where a gunman killed 6 people at a birthday party. The suspect, who is believed to be the boyfriend of one of the victims, is also dead.

The NRA is in bankruptcy and it’s leadership is a mess. Well today a judge dismissed the case saying that bankruptcy was not filed in good faith but rather to avoid legal proceedings and state regulations.

Based on your name I defer to you. By "off base" I mean stole a rifle from an area outside the base. You only get issued rifles and ammunition for certain events. That Ruddo would refer to it as an AR 15 (sic) instead of an M4, M16, or whatever the bespoke newer variants are suggests that maybe it wasn't a military firearm.

Apparently there was an active shooter in the shopping center of our other work location where I am sometimes, just weeks after there was a shooter near the main one where I'm usually at.

During a news conference, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said the incident started about 7 a.m. near Fort Jackson, the U.S. Army’s largest basic training facility, located in Columbia. The trainee, dressed in physical training clothes, “ran off post and escaped” with a rifle from the installation, Lott said.

Base general says rifle wasn’t loaded

As suspected. I presume a well used M16A2 unless we gave those all to Afghanistan and Iraq. What are the chances someone in bootcamp gets a decent A4 with optics?

It is important because it means this could have happened even if all civilian gun ownership was outlawed in the US. Therefore we must also defund the military and take away their weapons of war to protect our children.

I don't think anyone disagrees that it's a terrible incident, but thankfully it was resolved without anyone getting injured or killed.
