I'm surprised you liked it. I felt it was really childish and made awful narrative choices. It was immature and then it treated me like I was dumb

Someone else go see Saltburn so we can figure out who is right
My initial post about the film almost included "RM is gonna hate it."

But I keep getting chided for that kind of thing.

Guess I was right, though. Again.
Argo is not RM
But he's a part of the specific A&E contingent I mean when I say "RM is gonna hate this."

“Argo” is only two more letters than “RM.”

But I'm referring to a group of people, not just Argo. Perhaps the answer is to find a name for the RM A&E Illuminati?

That said, I'm pretty sure Joe won't be the only one who digs the movie. 7.5/10 on IMDb, stars Barry Keoghan. Tells a story.

That one looks cool

It was really great. A touching character drama with a giant monster in it. Hard to believe they made it for $15 million. What the hell are Hollywood doing?

I don't remember who the hell it was, but I remember hearing some producer answer the question of why Hollywood budgets are so high by saying "if you steal a million dollars from a 10 million dollar production, someone is likely to notice."

Guys, it's not paranoia, it's just that I'm referring to a group of people in generality. It's not that weird. It's shorthand, a nickname. Calm down.

Would I fit into this A&E illuminati? Argo and I disagree about movies a whole lot

Yes, you would 100% fit into the group I'm referring to when I say "RM will hate this."

tragabigzanda wrote:Based on Promising Young Woman and the inclusion of Barry Keoghan, I can't wait to see Saltburn. I refuse to watch any trailers because PYM was such an unexpected delight.
I'm noticing a trend among folks that if you didn't like PYW, you'll really HATE Saltburn. The fact that you liked PYM will maybe go a long way for you. I think the films are in conversation with each other and Saltburn (in many ways) feels like a spiritual sequel to PYM. I hope you dig it. But based on previous conversations with you, I feel like it could go either way. I'd love to hear your feedback when you do finally see it.
