The director's cut of the 1992 classic The Lawnmower Man. I haven't seen it since it came out. Sure, the effects are terrible and it goes completely off the rails, but the bones of a good movie are there. It's not that bad. At least compared to modern "movies."

It's weird to see Pierce Brosnan so young. He's too pretty. But he's totally playing up the mad scientist thing.

Have you seen Walt Simonson’s adaptation of the short story?

Mid90s

It was pretty good. I liked the mood, the camaraderie and the growing up vibes.

Only five movies left from 2018 now:

Can You Ever Forgive Me?
Eight Grade
Hotel Mumbai
Love, Simon
Thunder Road

Hotel Mumbai

Powerful and intense movie about the terror attack on Hotel Mumbai. We follow the staff and the guests in a couple of really tough days.

Really well made movie.

Thunder Road

Jim Cummings wrote, directed and had the lead role in this movie. I don’t want to praise it too much, but it’s touching, funny, dramatic, has a good story, and was made for $200,000. If you haven’t seen it, you should.

Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Another true story told in a movie from 2018, was a ton of them. Melissa McCarthy had the role of a lifeime though, and Richard E. Grant supported her perfectly.

Love, Simon

Just saw this. A really good coming out story. Touching, heartwarming, somewhat funny, genuine and sincere.

Now on to Eight Grade, the final movie on my long list of 2018 movies.

Kelly Reichardt’s 2023 film, Showing Up, now streaming on Showtime. Immediately one of my favorite films of the year

Bo Burnham’s Eight Grade was another good movie. It’s about a girl played by Elsie Fisher, who struggles through eight grade. Very realistic and honest, not very funny, but the movie felt very true to life.

Oppenheimer

That was a lot. Basically an unrelenting info dump with an often overbearing score. I've no doubt that a second viewing would do wonders for my opinion of this film, but I can't see myself doing that anytime soon, so for now the best I can do is "pretty good". And I usually love Nolan!

Killers of the Flower Moon SHOULD nuke this come awards season. They're not even in the same league.
