My problem isn’t with ohtani the player (I might love watching him play if it didn’t involve listening to every sportscaster drool over his nuts because it’s good for the Dodgers and MLB ad revenue to hype him like Jesus swinging a bat). My problem is with Ohtani the brand and all the bullshit that comes along with celebrity worship and titanic amounts of money. He’s a very willing poster boy for not only something I hate about sports right now, but something I hate about America. Consolidating everything into the hands of the few. Nothing is not for sale. And the rich get what they can buy whether or not it’s good for anybody else.

Plus I buy his good guy image about as much as I by Tom Hanks’.
