They’ll play it tonight, guys. Then we can complain that they did.
I just figured it was because Eddie has a hard time pulling it off without ruining his voice for the rest of the show.McParadigm wrote:The only new song they have to offer, one that was custom built for this moment in time, AND one they pushed to radio. It says a lot about either their opinion of the effort, or their perception of how fans received it.

Ed has only himself to blame for that shitMcParadigm wrote:Ed: “Dudes, I can like never sing this song live, for real.”numbers wrote:I just figured it was because Eddie has a hard time pulling it off without ruining his voice for the rest of the show.McParadigm wrote:The only new song they have to offer, one that was custom built for this moment in time, AND one they pushed to radio. Matt: “So...single?”
All (high diving): “Single!”
Normally, I'd totally agree. But this is Ed we're talking about. It speaks to nothing more than how buzzed he was when he designed the setlist.McParadigm wrote:The only new song they have to offer, one that was custom built for this moment in time, AND one they pushed to radio. I don't think this was part of the new album process, though. This was just Ed pissed off about Trump, etc. and wrote a song about it.Got Some wrote:So with the new album “Can’t Deny Me” is the only song Ed has put lyrics to at this stage of the recording process.
Surely not.....
Yea I think this is true.E.H. Ruddock wrote:I don't think this was part of the new album process, though. yep and i think they rush released it b/c of this as well.Monkey_Driven wrote:I think he was inspired by the Florida school kids speaking out. Probably not much to it.
Especially with their SA dates so close to the release.evenslow wrote:yep and i think they rush released it b/c of this as well.Monkey_Driven wrote:I think he was inspired by the Florida school kids speaking out. Probably not much to it.
I’m not a fan, but the live version is pretty sweet. I think if he re-recorded the second verse so the lying seeds part wasn’t so hideous and the you are now poisoning was something else, I’d really dig it.evenslow wrote:yep and i think they rush released it b/c of this as well.Monkey_Driven wrote:I think he was inspired by the Florida school kids speaking out. I wish they let it breath a bit and get weird at the end.daft twat wrote:I’m not a fan, but the live version is pretty sweet. the #1 problem with the song though is the schoolyard taunt bridge(?). if the song went somewhere cool at that moment it would brighten things up a lot.Monkey_Driven wrote:I wish they let it breath a bit and get weird at the end.daft twat wrote:I’m not a fan, but the live version is pretty sweet. I think Ed thought he caught something good with the song matching the moment (he was wrong) so they recorded and put it out right away. They have their own studio and wouldn't need BOB to record something like Can't Deny Me.Got Some wrote:E.H. Ruddock wrote:I don't think this was part of the new album process, though. I just can’t see why Pearl jam and BOB would schedule time in a studio with new material if not to record.
