I kid. Sort of.
Look, regardless of how/why Harris lost, the deomcratic party needs to figure out how to win elections and win over the working class/rural/suburban voters. The demonizing of the other side needs to stop. Clearly most of the country has greater concern over their own well being financially than what they are supposed to call transgender people. And, of course.
Without reaching these voters, they wont win elections, and if they dont win elections, then the rights for the marginalized communities we hope to protect, could be stripped away and we all lose.
Time for the deomcratic party/people like me, to do some soul searching.
The progressive left has a hard time denouncing Hamas' attack on October 7th because "israel".
Defund the police.
We do look insane. I get it.
That doesnt mean we stop fighting for such causes/ideals. But, the left better fucking figure out how to not alienate now more than half the electorate.
And, of course, there are few cures for sexism/racism/mysogny , which absolutley exist.
Its all of it.

What The fuck? I was laughing at Bart. Not everything is about you my dude
I don’t get why you’re being defensive. People are losing their minds about the election. I merely tried to provide an alternative view to that based in my experience. Bart made a jab at me. You laughed at Bart. Please leave me alone.
Bart made the jab (which I thought was a general comment about the election results) but you singled me out as the "jerk" in your comments? Cool.

You thought Bart said "oh my god" about the election results, and that made you laugh?

Yes. After everything happening, and all of us in here discussing it, him coming in and just dropping "oh my god" got a chuckle out of me.

great post strat. i completely agree.
there is a contingent of people that think the issues are zero sum, and that even engaging is a non-starter. that's foolhardy, and it's going to lead to a further erosion of demographics that the party relies on and, i hate to say it, took for granted for so long.
there are racists out there, and there are sexists out there. they're everywhere. but again, that's not why harris lost. and if it was, then shame on the democrats for forcing this candidate down our throats with no say in the matter when they knew she was the least desirable because of all the racist and sexist a-holes.

Yesterday, my brother, who I talk to once or twice a year, texted me a happy birthday message and asked how I was doing. I subsequently found out he voted for Trump because the economy was "the best it had been" in his lifetime with him. And he said he doesn't like his personality "necessarily" but it was inconsequential to him because he "will never meet him". I argued a bit, but we managed to agree to disagree. I will never think of my brother the same again. I used to have so much more respect for him.
I also recently discovered my mother voted for him too. But that didn't surprise me.

Do Democrats really need to reach out to men? While it's true that men are moving right, women have also moved farther to the left. And this is a global phenomenon. It's happening in every country in Europe and Asia as well. It seems unavoidable and not worth trying to reverse. But I don't know.
It seems that just being "the girl party", while still appealing to a few men with a lingering sense of duty to women (that isn't reciprocated) would work just fine.

I'll reserve it for only applying to mental diseases which have reached epidemic proportions.

Yes, and those who are incapable of seeing, or unwilling to see how corrupt and dangerous he is are the deranged ones. And apparently that's reached a much larger proportion.

I can already see what the next four years will be like. "Trump is fascist" is Russiagate 2.0.
Deportations? Just like the fascists!
Firing federal bureaucrats? Just like the fascists!
Withdrawing support for Ukraine? Just like the fascists!
Then in four years when he hasn't cancelled democracy or invaded Poland or started putting people in ovens, everyone will pretend that they didn't overreact like lunatics.
Unless he does do all those things... Boy! Won't I have egg on my face then!

Why would you think he won't do those things? He's expressly said he would and will have the power to do so.

Except Poland and the ovens of course.
